MESSAGE FROM THE MINISTER FOR SMALL BUSINESSSolo and micro businesses are booming. The NSW Government is supporting this sector by sponsoring the first ever Flying Solo Live event as part of Small Business September '08. Flying Solo LIVE! is a great opportunity for people who work from home or on their own to glean the latest thinking and ideas on their sector. Solo and micro business owners make a significant contribution to the State's economy. With advances in technology and the growth of service industries, more and more people, especially women, are choosing to operate as a solo or micro business. A number of factors influence the trend to going solo, including the rapid growth of service industries, people opting for a sea change, seeking a better work-lifestyle balance, increased outsourcing, job flexibility and an overall trend to self-employment.
